Rug Cleaning in Sunset Hills
Collection and delivery in Sunset Hills are included. We take the rug back to the workshop, wash it properly, and bring it home.
What Sunset Hills is built from
Late 1920s through 1950s houses west of downtown, near Friendly Avenue and within walking distance of the university — Tudor and Colonial Revival cottages and post-war ranches, nearly all with original oak or heart-pine floors.
Families and academics, a great many of them mid-project. Floors get uncovered and refinished here more often than in almost any other part of the city.
The Sunset Hills problem
Floor finish is the specific hazard. Sanding old oak throws a fine resinous dust that settles deep into pile and then hardens in place; polyurethane overspray does the same thing and cures permanently. A rug that was rolled in the next room during a refinish comes out stiff, with a flat grey cast that reads as ordinary dirt and is not — it is cured finish on every fibre, and it is far more recoverable in the first weeks than after a year of being walked on. The second version of the same problem is a rug put back down before the finish has fully cured, which takes considerably longer than the floor feels dry. Trapped solvent under a rug pad discolours both the finish and the rug backing.
If that sounds like your rug, send the form and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you whether it needs the full treatment or not.
