What Ardmore is built from

The Ardmore problem
Pet contamination behaves differently in this climate than the bottle promises. Urine dries to a crystalline salt that sits in the foundation and is hygroscopic — it draws water out of the air — so it does not stay finished. Every humid stretch reactivates it, which is why a rug that seemed fine in February announces itself in August, and why surface treatment keeps failing. Worse, the salts shift the pH at the base of the pile and burn dye out of wool from underneath while the top still looks sound. The only thing that works is flushing the contamination completely out of the foundation, then correcting the colour where the dye survived. Catching it in the first weeks is the difference between a cleaning problem and a reweaving problem.
