Rug Cleaning in Summerfield

Collection and delivery in Summerfield are included. We take the rug back to the workshop, wash it properly, and bring it home.

The Houses

What Summerfield is built from

A large rural-residential town north of Greensboro toward Lake Brandt and Lake Townsend, settled since the eighteenth century — big lots, long drives, barns and outbuildings, and newer houses on ground that was pasture within living memory.

Households who chose the space: horses, dogs, gardens, workshops. There is no short route from the car to the living room, and most of it crosses bare ground.

Every Summerfield rug is washed at the workshop, not in the room.
What We Find Here

The Summerfield problem

Piedmont red clay is not ordinary dirt and it does not behave like it. The particles are plate-shaped iron-oxide minerals, hard and sharp-edged, and once they are in a rug they do two separate things. They stain, because iron oxide binds to wool and the orange tint sits in the fibre rather than on it. And they cut: every footfall drags those plates across the base of the pile like fine grit paper, so what looks like a worn traffic lane is usually not wear from feet at all but thousands of clay particles sawing through wool. Cleaning recovers the colour. It does not put back the nap that has already been cut, which is why the interval between washes matters more on a long clay drive than almost anywhere else.

If that sounds like your rug, send the form and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you whether it needs the full treatment or not.
